Coyote Watch Canada is joining our colleagues at The Fur-Bearers and Earthroots in calling on the government to shut down a coyote killing contest using existing legislation designed to prevent such contests from happening.
As reported by Earthroots, an Ontario-based store is running a contest that sets no geographic boundaries, which means Algonquin wolves, a distinct species that cannot be differentiated from the Eastern Coyotes, are at risk, too. We are asking you to use Earthroots’ action item to contact those responsible for interpreting and enforcing Ontario’s wildlife legislation. These illegal coyote killing contests are scientifically reckless, ethically bankrupt, and contrary to sound conservation.
