Lesley Sampson delivered an engaging and informative presentation to the Headwaters Nature Club on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Her talk provided a look into the complex behaviour and ecology of coyotes. Lesley’s knowledge and passion for coexistence shone through as she shared evidence-based insights into how coyotes live, communicate, and adapt to both wild and urban environments. She also addressed practical strategies for safely and respectfully navigating encounters with coyotes—information that was both useful, practical and grounded in science. The 70+ attendees left with an appreciation for the role coyotes play in the ecosystem and how we, as a community, can take practical steps toward coexisting with wildlife. Lesley’s presentation was a highlight of our year, and we are grateful for the clarity, compassion, and expertise she brought to the discussion.
